Blue means cut, Orange means keep
tree bark, tree marking paint, polyurethane
21" x 5" x 4
2016

(accompanying narrative poetry by Courtney Huse Wika)

Blue means cut
Orange means keep

She wonders if she’ll be red-winged
When she’s free,
Closer to the sky than the earth.

The saws sound in the distance
like the crack of a bullet.
